Dr G. Dodd Denton, MD MPH, directs the general practice clerkship at the University of Queensland’s Ochsner Clinical School in New Orleans. He has been instrumental in developing a very successful General Practice Rotation in New Orleans, which has resulted in a record number of our US graduates choosing
Dodd received his MD degree from the University of Mississippi, and his MPH from Johns Hopkins University. He completed residency training at the National Naval Medical Center, and spent 23 years as a US Navy physician, retiring as a Captain in 2012. Dodd received the Teacher of the Year Award from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in 2012, and was awarded the Chipper Griffith Educational Research award in 2010 and the Louis Pangaro Education Program Development award in 2013.
His active research interests in undergraduate medical education are wide-ranging, principally focused on best practices in outpatient medical education, including the contribution of the humanities. He has given multiple invited regional, national and international presentations on education and faculty development.
He is also the current national President of the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine.
